After winning the ‘Building Excellence Award’ in 2017, MRJ Properties catapulted in popularity. To maintain our core values, we decided to partake in a quick question and answer to give our customers an insight to who we are.
Who are the owners?
Mark Jones, who has over 35 years’ experience in the building industry. You will usually find Mark on site, orchestrating our talented workers. His wife Rhian Jones is the person on the end of the phone who can answer any questions as well as making sure the team are where they should be at any one time.
What type of building work do we specialise in?
MRJ Properties are a building contractor and project management company. We undertake all types of building work, but specialise in building complete new build properties; extensions and refurbishments, with everything in between such as kitchens; bathrooms and conservatories, to be honest the list is endless, there’s nothing our team cannot do when it comes to fulfilling the idea a client has. Our forte is the high-quality construction and finish we produce every single time.
We offer the full service, from a clients’ initial visualisation through to the end product, by offering them services that can include dealing with architects; planning; and building regulations on the clients’ behalf. We also employ a team of highly skilled tradesman, who not only enjoy creating our clients ideas through a very high standard of workmanship, but whom also have a very courteous work ethic, for which time and time again we are commended on from our clients. Mark ensures we offer a very personal approach with our clients, so that they feel that either Mark or myself are always on the end of the phone of email if needed for anything.
Who are our customers?
We mainly deal with the domestic/residential market, and geographically the majority of our customers are from the Vale of Glamorgan and surrounding areas, and much of our business comes from recommendation from previous clients.
Award-Winning
Every year LABC hold Building Excellence Awards across the country. During 2017, we were the overall regional winner for LABC Cymru Vale of Glamorgan “Best New Individual Home” which was an extremely proud moment not only for ourselves, but our whole team of tradesmen, and the architect. The winning project provided a new property in place of a sub-standard 1940’s house previously occupying the site.
The existing building was completely demolished to make way for a new two storey property with a cinema room within the roof space. The main living accommodation to both the ground and first floor benefits from uninterrupted views over open countryside. The rear of the property makes use of large glazed openings and has a contemporary look, whilst the front elevation was constructed with traditional blue lias stone, all from the grounds of the property itself.
Internally the property marries both the contemporary and traditional aspects very well to achieve a modern country style. The property was also fitted with a full home automation system. To top off the awards night, we were also awarded as Highly Commended ‘Best Local Builder’ for consistently carrying out work to a high standard. Nominations for the awards are made by the Council’s Building Control Surveyors, who are responsible for supervision of the projects as they progress on site, through to the eventual completion of the work. These building awards also help those looking to appoint new contractors to focus on those builders who are considered to be the very best in their field.
